Zoya Zalatimo

Zoya is a Palestinian visual artist and storyteller. Her creative work is largely inspired by her experiences as a woman growing up in the Gulf, UK, and returning to the US for her undergrad studies, and what it means to be a diasporic Palestinian. She studied Near East Studies at the University of Michigan and now resides in Dubai. Zoya launched @AgonyPita on Instagram in 2019 inspired by her love of storytelling. In her final year of University, she had the idea to document some of the experiences and microaggressions her close friends and herself had on campus." By visually communicating these stories on Agony Pita, my goal was to shed light on these issues through satire and humor, and let people know they're not alone."
